چکیده

Existing integer-order Nonlinear Anisotropic Diffusion NAD used in noise suppressing will produce undesirable staircase effect or speckle effect. In this paper, we propose a new scheme, named Fractal-order Perona-Malik Diffusion FPMD , which replaces the integer-order derivative of the Perona-Malik PM Diffusion with the fractional-order derivative using G-L fractional derivative. FPMD, which is a interpolation between integer-order Nonlinear Anisotropic Diffusion NAD and fourth-order partial differential equations, provides a more flexible way to balance the noise reducing and anatomical details preserving. Smoothing results for phantoms and real sinograms show that FPMDwith suitable parameters can suppress the staircase effects and speckle effects efficiently. In addition, FPMD also has a good performance in visual quality and root mean square errors RMSE .

Regularized Multidirections and Multiscales Anisotropic Diffusion for Sinogram Restoration of Low-Dosed Computed Tomography

Although most of existing anisotropic diffusion (AD) methods are supported by prefect mathematical theories, they still lead to smoothed edges and anatomy details (EADs). They are caused by not considering the discrete nature of digital signal. In order to improve the performance of AD in sinogram restoration of low-dosed computed tomography (LDCT), we propose a new AD method, named regularized...

Reducing Noises and Artifacts Simultaneously of Low-Dosed X-Ray Computed Tomography Using Bilateral Filter Weighted by Gaussian Filtered Sinogram

Existing sinogram restoration methods cannot handle noises and nonstationary artifacts simultaneously. Although bilateral filter provides an efficient way to preserve image details while denoising, its performance in sinogram restoration for low-dosed X-ray computed tomography LDCT is unsatisfied. The main reason for this situation is that the range filter of the bilateral filter measures simil...

Low-Dose Dual-Energy Computed Tomography for PET Attenuation Correction with Statistical Sinogram Restoration

Dual-energy (DE) X-ray computed tomography (CT) has been proposed as an useful tool in various applications. One promising application is DECT with low radiation doses used for attenuation correction in positron emission tomography (PET). In low-dose DECT, conventional methods for sinogram decomposition have been based on logarithmic transformations and ignored noise properties, leading to very...

Low-dose X-ray computed tomography image reconstruction with a combined low-mAs and sparse-view protocol.

To realize low-dose imaging in X-ray computed tomography (CT) examination, lowering milliampere-seconds (low-mAs) or reducing the required number of projection views (sparse-view) per rotation around the body has been widely studied as an easy and effective approach. In this study, we are focusing on low-dose CT image reconstruction from the sinograms acquired with a combined low-mAs and sparse...

SR-NLM: A sinogram restoration induced non-local means image filtering for low-dose computed tomography

Radiation dose has raised significant concerns to patients and operators in modern X-ray computed tomography (CT) examinations. A simple and cost-effective means to perform a low-dose CT scan is to lower the milliampere-seconds (mAs) as low as reasonably achievable in data acquisition. However, the associated image quality with lower-mAs scans (or low-dose scans) will be unavoidably degraded du...
